My name is Hope (Esperanza en español) and I am still hoping for my forever home. I’ve been living with Robbie and Lisa October thru May for the last two years, but they cannot take me back to Tahoe with them because their unfenced property is open to acres and acres of U.S. Forest land that is home to bears, cunning coyotes, rabbits, bobcats, squirrels, and chipmunks—all of which are too tempting and could lead me to danger. Even kitty cats and small dogs that run away from me can be irresistible, but with a shock collar, I’m getting much better at controlling myself. I do love to play with other dogs and puppies, especially if they are athletic like me. Another reason Robbie and Lisa can’t take me forever is I have a sore hip that makes it hard for me to travel for long periods in a car without a backseat, and they do a lot of traveling in a truck that has no back seat for me. I can stand up and lay down, but sitting is tough. 
Lisa and Robbie will tell you that I am a great dog. Lisa says I’m the prettiest, smartest, fastest, funniest, and most loving dog she’s ever met. I love her and Robbie so much. Robbie gets on his bike or side-by-side to take me for runs in the arroyo where I can chase as many lizards and squirrels as I want, and they take me to the beach and throw a stick in the water so I can swim out and retrieve it. Those are my favorite things to do, but I also like to play with toys. My favorite is la salchicha grande (giant hotdog), but the rabbit, duck, and elephant are close seconds. I am an excellent watchdog and can alert you to strangers night or day. Here are some photos of me so you can see how pretty I am. I was born with my nose smooshed a little bit to the side, but everyone says it just makes me cuter. Lisa loves my nose, white eyelashes and dainty paws, which I like to cross like a lady when I lay down.
